Do not be fooled by the Northside-Pinetown Panthers No. 11 seed in the 1A East softball bracket. The Panthers were the top “wild card” team to make the 32-team East bracket.

Northside’s record is 20–4. The four losses came against South Central (17–6), Perquimans (20–5) and Pamlico County (23–3) twice. The Panthers finished second to Pamlico County in the Coastal Plains 1A/2A Conference which relegated them to a “wild card” berth. In the final regular season RPI rankings, Northside finished fifth. Their opponents had a winning percentage of 57.2 percent.
