AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP is celebrating half a century of service to Columbus County. The senior citizen volunteer program, which is based locally at Southeastern Community College, marked its 50th anniversary with an awards ceremony and catered luncheon on May 4 at Vineland Station in downtown Whiteville.
SCC President Chris English presented three Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service plaques at the celebration to Howard Jacobs, Retha Thompson and Van Pierce.
