N.C. 130 was closed in both directions Tuesday evening so a helicopter could land in the highway to airlift a pick-up driver to the hospital following a wreck.
The single-vehicle accident happened on the highway about a mile and a half west of the Brunswick County line around 5:15 p.m. It took first responders approximately half an hour to extricate the man from the truck, which had hit a pine tree. No one else was injured in the wreck.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating. Nakina Rescue and AirLink responded, as well as Old Dock Fire Department and Waccamaw Fire Department from Brunswick County.
