1979

— THE ADMINISTRATIVE AREA — of Whiteville High School, which was severely damaged by fire in October of 1977, was completely torn down by Williams and Frink Construction workers. A new administration office building, which would contain twice the space of the old building, was to be constructed on the site. The new building is part of an approximately $450,000 project that would also convert the school’s old gymnasium into a media center and renovate the south end of the school’s main building, which also received heavy fire damage. The entire project was to be completed by January.
